Pattern Design with Justin Avery
Couldn't load pickup availability
This class offers a multi-level experience depending on the sewing level of the participant. Instruction will be a combination of in-person sessions with Justin and independent work at home, guided by pre-recorded videos.
The course covers understanding the relationship between fit and pattern making by teaching flat and 3-dimensional patterns. Each student will learn how to take detailed body measurements and how to use drafting tools to create their own individual patterns to fit their measurements. The class will focus on tops and include techniques for setting sleeves. Each student will leave the course with a basic pattern "sloper" and the knowledge of the basic construction techniques used to sew a garment.
More advanced students will learn how these patterns and skills can then be translated to alter commercial patterns as well as learning skills required for more complex shapes and designs.
Students who take this class may also be interested in Justin's Pants Construction and Alteration class.
